How you can help

Looking for other ways you can get involved? Fancy picking up a whistle or washing smelly bibs? Have a look at the opportunities below and get in touch!

Coaching

Our coaches are at the heart of our club and give up their time every week in all weathers. Our head coach is Lynda Bennett and we have a number of assistant coaches across all the sessions. GCSE PE students are given the opportunity to assist with the junior sessions. If you would like to get involved with coaching, please get in touch. The club covers the cost of courses for coaches.

Umpiring

Without our umpires, guess what? No hockey. So we are always looking to add to and help our umpires. It can be an unpopular job some days but we give them plenty of support which includes fully funded coaching and qualifications. We also provide our league umpires with a fee (it’s a big responsibility) and a handshake at the end of the game. Yes it’s a bit scary at first but over time it becomes very satisfying knowing you have helped a lot of people enjoy there sport. You also get the best view of the game and you are on the pitch for the full match. We have zero tolerance of umpire abuse – they are never rude to you so please be polite back. So why don’t you pick up a whistle? We’d love you for it.

Fundraising

Fundraising is important for the club in order to help keep training and membership fees as low as possible.

Tonfanau Road Racing: For many years the Club have run the gate for the Tonfanau motorbike racing, which contributes substantially to the club’s funds. Can you spare a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday selling tickets? Keep an eye out for the next race dates on Facebook.

Race the Train: We also help with car parking at Talyllyn Railway's annual Race the Train, every year in August.

The Committee

Our committee is the foundation of the club. We have players, parents, coaches and even our friends the umpires involved as we try to steer the ship in the right direction. A friendly welcome is waiting for anyone who wants to be involved and you won’t be pressganged into lots of tasks if you wish to join us. The main thing is that we have a broad group of opinions, constructive debate and guiding principles that serve our members and stakeholders. Club members are always welcome to attend and if you like it, come and join us. They are actually fun meetings – honestly.

See the committee page for more info.

Bib Squad

The newest and most exclusive squad in the club, The Bib Squad, are who to thank for our fresh smelling bibs.
